Bellevue Christian School’s athletics program offers student athletes an opportunity to develop the whole child—physically, emotionally, mentally and socially.
With a rich tradition and history of achievement in athletics, BCS continuously pursues excellence on the field, in the gym and beyond. High School athletics offers 14 different varsity sports—seven boys/seven girls including several JV teams in specific sports. At the junior high level, BCS encourages participation by implementing a “no cut” policy. Five different sports for boys and girls are offered and multiple teams are available when numbers allow. Outstanding Christian coaches mentor student athletes by teaching and modeling skills and game play to prepare 7th and 8th grade athletes for the high school program if they choose to try out.
All athletes are encouraged to develop their God-given talents and abilities through competitive play while stressing the importance of how the game is played. Cultivating character traits individually and as a team is emphasized.
BCS is a member of the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) and participates in the Emerald City 1A League. BCS has received the highest honor given by the WIAA, the Scholastic Cup, four of the last six years. The Scholastic Cup is awarded for exemplary scholastic achievement of all participants in co-curricular programs, athletics and performing arts achievement, and for character and display of sportsmanship. Ten BCS athletic teams, or individuals from our athletic teams, qualified for state competitions in the 2007-08 school year.
I encourage you to come to one of our sports events to where I hope you will walk away with a sense of Christ’s love. Athletes, coaches and BCS fans strive to treat opponents, officials and visiting spectators with respect and fair play. If you have additional questions about our athletics programs please feel free to contact me.
