Celebrating 75 Years of Faith, Excellence, and Legacy at Bellevue Christian School

This year, Bellevue Christian School (BCS) is celebrating a remarkable milestone—75 years of providing exceptional Christ-centered education. Founded in 1950 by brothers Joe and Al Greene, BCS has flourished over the decades, growing into a thriving institution that serves students from Preschool to Grade 12. As we celebrate this incredible anniversary, we look back on the school’s history, its foundational mission and values, and the lasting impact it has had on generations of students and families.

A Humble Beginning with a Vision

The story of Bellevue Christian School began to provide an educational environment where children could learn not only academic subjects but also how to live faithfully for God in a rapidly changing world. Our school’s founders, Joe and Al Greene, saw the need for a school that would help students develop spiritually, academically, and socially while remaining grounded in Christian values. Their faith-driven mission to offer a transformative education laid the groundwork for what would become a lasting legacy.

From its humble beginnings, BCS has grown into a multi-campus institution with schools in Woodinville, Medina, and Clyde Hill. Our school’s foundation has always been its unwavering commitment to offering a Christ-centered education that prepares students to face life’s challenges with a strong faith and a deep understanding of God’s word.

Our Mission and Core Values

At the heart of Bellevue Christian School’s success is its clear and purposeful mission:

“Preparing young people to live faithfully and fully for God in a rapidly changing world with the ability to understand, evaluate, and transform their world from the foundation of God’s unchanging values.”

This mission drives every aspect of education at BCS, from our rigorous academic programs to the emphasis on character development and spiritual growth. Students are not only equipped with knowledge but are also encouraged to apply their faith in everything they do, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or within the community.

Teaching for Transformation

BCS firmly believes that faith and learning go hand in hand. Each academic discipline offers an opportunity to explore God’s character and His creation. This is embedded in our Teaching for Transformation (TfT) framework, which ensures that students see the world through the lens of their faith. The TfT approach encourages students to discover who they are in Christ and how to live out their calling to impact the world for His glory.

Alongside academic excellence, BCS places a strong emphasis on relationships and discipleship. Teachers, counselors, and staff work closely with students to build meaningful relationships, providing guidance and support for their spiritual and emotional well-being. Through weekly chapel services, Bible study, and mentorship, students are encouraged to grow in their faith and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to follow Christ.

A Strong Educational Foundation

BCS offers an inspiring and supportive academic environment where students are challenged to reach their fullest potential. With a low student-to-teacher ratio and a commitment to personalized learning, BCS ensures that every student receives the attention and support they need to succeed. In everything from elementary school math classes to AP courses in high school, BCS offers a broad range of academic opportunities that cater to the needs and abilities of each student.

Committed to Student Success

Our school also offers specialized programs to support students with unique learning needs through its Student Academic Services Program (SAS), ensuring that all students can thrive in an inclusive environment. This commitment to differentiation and academic excellence has contributed to BCS’s 98% college acceptance rate, showcasing our school’s dedication to preparing students for success in higher education and beyond.

A Legacy of Faith and Excellence

One of BCS’s defining aspects is maintaining our foundational mission while adapting to the changing needs of students and society. Our school’s commitment to a biblical worldview is evident in everything from the curriculum to extracurricular activities.

Through engaging academic programs, intentional bonding experiences, and a focus on character development, BCS students grow into compassionate leaders who are ready to make a positive impact on the world. Our Bible study classes and discipleship programs ensure that students are grounded in their faith, while extracurricular opportunities like retreats and field trips help them build lifelong friendships and a sense of community.

We celebrate our 75th anniversary as a testament to God’s faithfulness and the strength of our founding vision. Our school’s success is not just measured by academic achievements but by the lasting impact we have had on generations of students who have gone on to live out their faith in the world. Many BCS alumni are now leaders in their communities, thriving in their careers and continuing to serve God in meaningful ways.

Looking Toward the Future

As BCS enters our 75th year, we continue to look forward with excitement and anticipation. Our commitment to preparing students for the future—equipped with academic knowledge, a strong moral compass, and a heart for service—remains as strong as ever. While the world continues to change, BCS remains steadfast in its dedication to providing an education rooted in God’s unchanging values.

Looking ahead, Bellevue Christian School is committed to continuing its legacy of faith and excellence, ensuring that each new generation of students is equipped to face the challenges of an ever-changing world. We’re grateful to all the families that trust us with their children’s education and to our amazing faculty and staff that make it all possible.
