At Bellevue Christian School, we believe in creating a nurturing environment where students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. That all starts with enrollment. Since 1950, BCS has prepared young people to live faithfully for Christ, providing a holistic education rooted in biblical values. With campuses in Woodinville, Medina, and Clyde Hill, BCS serves students from Preschool through Grade 12.
As you consider applying to BCS, we want to make sure you understand the admissions process, the support available for families, and the unique opportunities your child will experience at our school.
Our Approach to a Comprehensive Christian Education
We integrate faith and learning in every aspect of our students’ education. Our curriculum encourages intellectual achievement while also fostering spiritual growth. From Bible study in the early grades to a more in-depth study of apologetics and ethics in high school, BCS students gain a strong foundation in both academics and Christian values.
Our commitment to nurturing the whole child—academically, relationally, and spiritually—creates a supportive environment where students can flourish. We offer challenging coursework, enriching extracurricular activities, and intentional relationship-building experiences like mission trips and retreats. These experiences equip BCS students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
The Admissions Process
At Bellevue Christian School, we understand the importance of choosing the right school for your child. That’s why we’ve designed an admissions process that is thorough and transparent, ensuring that both your family and the school community are a good fit for one another. Enrollment at BCS involves four steps.
Schedule a Visit
We encourage all prospective families to schedule a campus tour. BCS offers tours year-round, providing an opportunity to explore our campuses, meet faculty, and learn more about the unique culture of BCS. You can schedule a tour by emailing admissions@bellevuechristian.org, or by signing up or submitting an inquiry on our website.
Submit an Application
Once you’ve decided that BCS might be the right fit, the next step is to submit an application. For students in grades 7-12, the application includes two years of report cards or transcripts, any standardized testing reports, teacher recommendations, and a parent and student questionnaire. Our admissions team will review your application and may reach out for further clarification if needed.
Academic Review
After your application is submitted, our Director of Student Learning will review your child’s academic history to ensure they are prepared for success at BCS. This review may include discussions with your child’s current school to better understand their learning profile.
Family Interview
Once the academic review is complete, we’ll invite you and your child to participate in a family interview. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about Bellevue Christian School and for us to get to know your family. We’ll discuss your child’s interests, goals, and potential fit within our community.
We believe that every family’s journey is unique, and our admissions team is here to help guide you through each step of the enrollment process. Whether you are applying for preschool, elementary, middle school, or high school, we want to make the process as smooth and informative as possible.
Tuition Assistance: Making a Christian Education Accessible
We understand that the financial commitment to private education can be a significant consideration for many families during enrollment. That’s why BCS offers tuition assistance based on demonstrated financial need for students in grades K-12.
Tuition assistance is awarded after a detailed financial evaluation through School and Student Services (SSS), a third-party organization that helps determine families’ financial needs. We use SSS to assess each family’s ability to pay, ensuring fairness and transparency in the process. It’s important to note that applying for tuition assistance does not affect your child’s chances of admission to BCS. The admissions process and the tuition assistance process are separate, and your child can be admitted before applying for financial aid.
Scholarships: Additional Support for Families
In addition to general tuition assistance, Bellevue Christian School offers several supplemental scholarships to further support families in need. These scholarships are primarily need-based and are funded by the generosity of the BCS community. Some of the scholarships available include:
- Barnes Memorial Scholarship: For Student Academic Services students in grades 1-12 with financial need.
- Scott Bioren Memorial Scholarship: For high school students participating in athletics and demonstrating academic merit.
- Henry and Ann Vander Pol Memorial Scholarship: For students with financial need whose families are alumni of BCS.
Students must also apply for tuition assistance to qualify for any need-based scholarships. The deadline to apply for scholarships is April 15, and each qualifying student can only receive one scholarship per year.
Key Dates and Deadlines
To ensure that you meet all deadlines and are considered for tuition assistance or scholarships, it’s important to stay on top of the application timeline. Here are a few key dates to remember:
- October 1: You can begin applying for tuition assistance for the upcoming school year.
- April 15: Deadline for scholarship applications.
- May 1: Deadline for tuition payments (if applying after this date, families must pay tuition installments retroactively).
Please note that while tuition assistance is available throughout the year, it’s best to apply early to give your family the best chance of receiving assistance before tuition is due. Keep in mind that if you file a tax extension, your tuition assistance application won’t be complete until all required documents are submitted.
